Personality: Calm, laid-back, and a chain smoker, Axel is the perfect portrait of the "Punk" style. He is almost always seen with a cigarette, and is also an avid drinker. He is a loner by nature, and only by coincidence does he ever work with anyone. Although he is not actively on the "hunt" for females, he is quite the ladies man, as they are usually attracted to his "bad boy" look. In his pastime, he usually prefers to listen to music and, not often, read. Axel usually doesn't read as he has to wear reading glasses, which he hates. Although he owns a fairly nice bed, Axel usually prefers to crash on the couch. He is also usually a slob, as his apartment is almost always dirty. It's not so much a lack of trying, but due to the fact he usually only goes there to sleep.
When it comes to fighting, Axel is most people, hollows and shinigami included. This is because he has been fighting since a young age and has learned many different fighting styles. Despite this, Axel usually views most of his fights as mere games, not even throwing away his cigarette. Don't let this fool you, however, if he gets angry, or is in a pinch, he will take the fight much more seriously, giving it his all. You can tell when he's serious about a fight because he will have thrown away his cigarette. Despite liking to fight, he does not like to fight females.

History: Born in Hawaii, not much is know about Axel, as he was alone from a young age. It is rumored that he was the sun of a volcano god by the local superstitious folks, and would explain a lot. This, however, is only a rumor, and it is not know how much validity it holds. The reason this was assumed of him was because of a special power he was seemingly born with, not to mention his above average strength and agility. The power is known as volcán, and grants him strong fire powers. Because of this, he was always an outcast, never accepted by anyone. Then again, it didn't help that he could see dead people either.
Despite this, Axel still attended school, but there wasn't much to be seen there; he was just an average student, save for the number of fights he got into. Around the age of 12, Axel got himself a job working in the kitchen of a local restaurant. He started off working in what was known as the "line" the long, crowded stove space shared by him and all of the other workers. Despite being as hot as hell, Axel found that he enjoyed the heat. The only problem, however, was that the more he worked at this job, the more out of control his powers became. Around the age of 18, after saving up money, he was forced to move to Japan because of too many "accidental" fires that were associated with him. It turns out, however, that this was actually good thing for him, as he was about to learn some of the many fighting styles he currently knows.
After moving to Japan, Axel quickly found a small place to rent, and began working again. Although he never officially attended college, he took many college courses and online classes in his free time, at least as many as he could afford. This is also when he picked up smoking. After smoking his first cigarette, he learned that his body was immune to the adverse effects of smoking. Because he had no health risks with it, he began to smoke everyday, as he enjoyed the feeling of something else whose only purpose was to burn. After working for a while, around the age of 21, Axel finally got a real promotion, and a raise. To celebrate his promotion, he rented a new apartment, a bit bigger and with better facilities.
After a year of "comfy" living, with no incidents from his powers, Axel thought he was set. This, however, couldn't be any farther from the truth. One night, on his way home from work, Axel began to sense an ominous presence, something he had forgotten about. Because he was so busy, he had all but forgotten about the spirits he could see and sense, but tonight, that was all about to change. The presence, however, was nothing like what he had felt before, much stronger than anything he had ever sensed. Hoping that his powers were still with him, Axel walked towards the presence, almost as if drawn to it. The problem was, however, that nothing he had experienced up to this point would prepare him for what he was about to see. That's right, a hollow.
Despite being a tough guy, nothing could have prepared him for this creature. It had a slim, spider-like body covered by what seemed to be scales, and an odd white mask on it's face. Stunned for a bit, he creature took the opportunity to attack, barely missing as Axel managed to dodge. Swearing under his breath, he quickly tossed away the cigarette he was currently smoking and charged at the hollow, not knowing if he could hurt it or not. Sadly, the latter seemed to be true, Despite being able to punch the creature and even move it back a few inches, he had done no harm to the creature. In his shock, Axel let down his guard, and the hollow stabbed one of it's sharp legs into his shoulder. Gritting his teeth, Axel was able to endure the pain, but he knew he was in trouble.
Suddenly, when all hope seemed lost, Axel's powers decided to make them selves know in their true strength. In a burst of light and heat, Axel's spiritual pressure shot up to that of a shinigami as the hollow was pushed away. When the light subsided, He was left there his eyes glowing green and his arm's rapidly increasing in temperature. Suddenly, his arms seemingly burst into flames, but upon closer inspection, his arms actually became the flames. Grinning, He knelt down, touching his right hand to the ground. As soon as his hand made contact, the dirt quickly became super heated and was turned into molten lava. Getting into a runners stance, he quickly ram at the hollow, his speed matching that of a shinigami, and impaled the hollow on his left arm. Lifting the hollow up off the ground, he held his left hand up to his face, palm facing towards the hollow, and with a burst of heat, the hollow was instantly incinerated.
After the fight, his arms returned to normal with no traces that they had previously been flames, save for the fact that the sleeves of his shirt were completely burnt off (this is why he now wears sleeveless shirts). As he returned to his apartment, he went over what had just happened in his head. Never before had his powers been so strong, let alone controllable. As he entered his apartment, he he pulled out another cigarette, lit it, then laid down on the couch. All night, he wasn't able to get to sleep, long after even his cigarette had burnt out. He was still caught up on the evenings earlier events, not so much on the hollow, but on his powers. that morning, after washing his face (some of the water turning into steam due to the residual heat on his arms) he made up his mind; no matter what, he was going to learn more about his powers.
Over the next few years, Axel began to practice using his powers, especially on his own will. At first, he met with little success, either not going completely into his fire state or not being able to control it. However, this did not stop him, as he also began to read many books on supernatural type stuff, especially on old Hawaiian legends. Through this, he began to see some similarities between a certain "volcano god" from the legends and his own powers. After studying this "volcano god" more closely, he began to understand his powers more, and eventually, after a little over a year of training, he had finally mastered controlling his powers, at least in terms of summoning them and controlling the fire. He also began to refer to the "volcano god" as "father", playing on the old superstitions of his home village in Hawaii.
Going back to living his normal life, at least on the surface, Axel secretly continued to train his powers, and even fight the mysterious creatures known as hollows. Although somewhat stressful at first, his long years of tough work ever since he was a kid helped him get used to his new "double life." Because of this, he has become more of a loner, and usually doesn't have much time to "go out." Axel knows of shinigami and their basic duties to escort souls to the soul society, but other than that, he knows nothing else.
Powers: Volcán (lit. Volcano in Spanish)
All of Axel's powers are fire based and derived from an ancient "volcano god" from Hawaiian legend. It is thought that Axel is the descendant of that god, and although he will sometimes refer to him as "father", no actual link is known. While using his powers, his arms are both engulfed in flame, and then become flames themselves. While in this state, anything he touches (excluding other people, shinigami, and their zanpaktou) can be turned into molten lava by super heating it. He can also use this to turn such objects as metal rods into flaming swords that he can fight with or throw at his opponent. Of course, as with all fire users, he can summon super hot flames to attack his opponent or shield himself.
Abilities:
Magma Onda (lit. Magma Wave in Spanish)
By placing both of his hands on the ground, Axel can super heat a large area of ground into magma. Using his fire control powers, he then forms it into a wave which comes crashing down upon his opponent. The longer he heats the ground the larger the wave.
Calor Velocidad (lit. Heat Speed in Spanish)
This is Axel's high-speed movement technique. By super heating the air behind himself, he can move at incredible speeds, allowing him to keep up with shinigami, arrancar, and quincy. The air left in his wake heats up for a bit until eventually simmering down. Axel can use this effect to make it harder for his opponent to breathe.
Magma Form
With this ability, Axel's whole body becomes engulfed in flames, and his attacks become 2x as strong. It is comparable to an arrancar's resseruction or a shinigami's bankai.
Volcán Erupción (lit. Volcano Eruption)
Axel can only use this ability while in his magma form. It is comparable to a stronger version of Magma Onda, but on a much larger scale. Using his whole body as the heat source, Axel super heats a large area of the ground around him into lava. Once fully melted, the magma is to hot to be stable, and quickly explodes, firing molten lava everywhere. As Axel must be in his Magma Form to use this ability, he is not harmed by the lava, but the a large area around the explosion, larger than that the area of ground that Axel super heated. Because of this effect, Axel rarely uses this attack.
Strengths: Because oh his powers, Axel's strength is on par with that of a shinigami or hollow. His flames are also hot enough to turn water into steam, meaning you can't put his flames out with water.
Weaknesses: Because his flames are so hot, they require a lot of fuel to continue burning. Although at normal level this has no effect on him, at higher altitudes where the air is thin, Axel has a limit on his powers, or can't use them at all.
