Personality: After many long years of being a Shinigami, not much has changed about Ravana's personality. Overall, he is a kind person, always ready to help others, but because he is a captain, he usually tries to hide this a bit. He is also a bit of a goof, easily getting into arguments and even distracted sometimes. Despite this, Ravana is actually a good leader and very charismatic able to lead his squad efficiently. He also has a good work ethic, despite some of his other qualities.
When it comes to battle, Ravana is much more serious than he usually is, but he still remains a bit talkative. He usually likes to tell his opponent what they are doing wrong, which is actually a good strategy, as most people wouldn't take advice from their opponent. However, once things get serious, Ravana really buckles down and gets straight to the point, winning. Although he is not as "fight minded" as the members of squad 11, he still enjoys a good fight.
And then came personal relationships. Although Ravana is somewhat popular among his squad, and even has many friends, he has some kind of quality that seemingly makes it impossible for him to be in any serious relationship. Ravana used to whine a bit about this fact, before becoming a captain, but now that he has matured a bit (although some may beg to differ) he pays it no mind, unless he finds a girl he really likes. Once shot down by the girl, Ravana is depressed for a short time, but eventually pulls himself back up.

Name: Kuro-iki (lit. Dark Spirit)
Personality: Kuro-iki's personality, like his appearance, is quite strange. Most of the time, he acts like a hyper kid, at least one with a macabre sense of humor. He usually likes to comment on the worst of possible situations. Once he is ready to fight, however, his personality changes completely, seemingly lost in the act of fighting. Ravana usually doesn't like to communicate with his zanpaktous spirit, as it can usually be very immature, but when he needs it, his spirit is there at the ready.

Sealed Zanpaktou: In it's sealed form, Kuro-iki takes the form of a standard Japanese shortsword (exactly like a katana but a bit shorter). The hilt and sheath are both black, and the guard is circular, instead of the standard box guard.
Shikai Release Phrase: "Blot out the sun, Kuro-iki!"
Shikai Description: In regard to general length, Ravana's zanpaktou remains the same size. The blade, however, is wider than the sealed form, with the back missing (just like Harribel's sealed zanpaktou). The main power of his shikai, however, lies in the powers he gains. Around both of his fists, a black energy swirls, and this is the root of his powers. He can use the black energy around his fists to create blades made of the black energy to fight with. He can also summon up black energy around himself to block an attack from any direction. By using his hands, he can summon up the black energy and use it to fight, similar to Byakuya' senbonzakura, but with a much wider variety of attack possibilities. Some examples of attacks Ravana can use are making a claw of black energy shoot out of the ground and ensnare his enemy or summon a giant maw of black energy that crushed down on his opponent with explosive force. Other than this, Ravana can summon the black energy into the back of his zanpaktou (with the missing section) to increase the power of his sword attacks greatly. While doing this, however, he cannot use the black energy freely.
Shikai Style: While fighting in his shikai, Ravana has three main styles for fighting. The first is to use only the black energy to attack. This style is very good at medium to long range, and when supplemented with hand to hand combat, is very efficient. The second style is using one hand to control the black energy and wielding his sword in his other (without it being strengthened by the black energy). This style is good against fast and powerful opponents, as Ravana can quickly attack with his sword and create shields with the black energy or attack with it. For medium to close range. The third and final style is using his sword strengthened with the black energy. This style emphasizes on powerful attacks and is mainly close range only. Ravana is able to fire off a blade of black energy in this style, but that is virtually his only long range attack in it.
Bankai: Kuro-iki Naito (lit. Dark Spirit Night)
In it's Bankai, Kuro-iki takes the form of a large scythe, completely black save for the sharp portion of the blade, which is silver. While in it's Bankai, Ravana can use the black energy much more efficiently, and he can even use it without his hands, making him much more lethal. The attacks, however, are powered up even more when he uses at least one hand to control it. Ravana is able to use a much wider variety of attacks, and can fight with his scythe at full power even while using the black energy to attack.
Bankai Styles: While in Bankai, Ravana has two distinct styles of fighting. The first one he only uses the dark energy to fight, sticking his scythe into the ground to free up his hands. This style is very fast and hard to keep up with, as Ravana can direct the black energy to do one attack with his hands and another attack with his mind, at the same time. The second style he uses his scythe and the black energy. This style is very powerful, and still hard to keep up with. Ravana can attack with his scythe and either attack or trap his opponent with the black energy. He also has a final attack in this form. By gathering all of his energy into his weapon, Ravana can unleash and ultimate attack. While doing so, his weapon is surrounded with the energy, and he also has two large wings made of the black energy.
History: Born in the Rukongai, Ravana's past is defined more by what he did, rather than where he lived. While growing up, Ravana was quite mature for his age, at least in some areas. Never knowing any parents, Ravana had to fend for himself. This, however, did not make Ravana a loner, as he was often looking out for the younger children of the Rukongai, sometimes even going without food for their sakes. In his own eyes, Ravana never saw his own life as being rough, so he has not become some hard ass who thinks they're all that because of what they went through. Other than looking after others, Ravana spent his time training.
For some reason he could not define, Ravana had known that he wanted to be a shinigami for as long as he could remember. Because of this, he constantly trained himself for that goal. When the time finally came around, Ravana took the Shinigami Academy Entrance exam, and was lucky enough to be accepted. Once in, Ravana's determination was only increased, as he worked hard to be his strongest. Despite this drive Ravana was not antisocial, and made many friends during his days at the academy. He was one of the few students that other students would go to for help, and he was glad to give it.
When the time came around, Ravana was ready to graduate, and was even one of the top in his class. To him, the graduation exam seemed easy, and after little difficulty, he passed it with flying colors. Because of this, Ravana was instantly accepted into squad 8, and even received a ranked position. During his early years in the squad, Ravana would always work hard to complete missions, earning the respect of his higher-up's along the way. However, all along the way, Ravana soon began to realize that he wanted to be more than just a solder, but a captain. Even back in the Rukongai, Ravana had this goal, weather or not he fully realized it. With this drive, Ravana pushed himself to work even harder.
After many years of proving himself in missions and important battles, when it came time to replace the captain of squad 8, Ravana was the natural selection. For his selection, he had to face Hitsugaya and Kenpachi both to prove that he had what it took to become a captain. Although it took everything he had, he managed to pass the test, and officially became the captain of squad 8. Because of his hard work and dedication, many of his fellow squad members accepted him as captain, and for a while, everything was good.
Soon, however, things would change. Soon, The Gotie 13 would ask Haruko Yuudeshi, the former captain of squad 8 to return to her position as captain, and because of this, Ravana was moved to captain of squad 9. Ravana held no grudge at this, as he respected the former captain, and was just glad to be able to stay captain, especially with his luck.
